6 Months/27 Weeks

It's been a packed week!  Violet turned 6 months old last Saturday.  We had a nice visit with Violet's birth family Saturday morning.  Their neighborhood was having a garage sale so David and I did a little shopping while Violet hung out with her birth mom and her grandparents.  We found an adorable child sized rocking chair for Violet's room for $5, but the deal of the day was a barely used Chicco pack 'n play for $25!

Violet has been doing a great job sitting up and her balance has improved so much in the past week that she doesn't need the pillow anymore.  Also, check out her teeth!  It used to be cute when she chewed on your finger but now it really hurts.

Violet had her 6 month check-up last Monday.  The doctor congratulated us on a healthy baby.  She weighed 18 pounds, 3 ounces and is in the 85th percentile for weight, length and head circumference.  Just to make the visit memorable, she peed all over the weigh-in table while the nurse was recording her stats.  Everything else went great & we look forward to seeing the doctor again for her 9 month check-up.

We went to court to finalize the adoption on Thursday.  We thought my parents weren't going to make it, but they drove to KC late the night before and surprised us at the courthouse.
After court, we went to the disc golf course to kill time before Oklahoma Joe's opened.
Judah did a great job keeping track of the discs.

Shortly after this photo she grew aggravated with the hat.  She reached up and grabbed the top of the hat and threw it onto the table.  It was pretty cute & I had no idea she was so coordinated!
Grandma and Grandpa Baker had a lot of fun playing with Violet this weekend.
She has become very aware of people, objects and sounds.  When she sees her bottle, she will grab it with both hands and put it in her mouth.  She's taken a sudden interest in the cat and we're all a little worried about how that will play out once Violet starts crawling.  We also can't lay her in her crib and expect her to fall asleep at night anymore.  If she's awake when you leave the room, she gets really upset.  I'm glad we decided to get a rocking chair.
